Is It Over Yet ?

I'm not sure what's worse: A three game sweep at the hands of the Braves, or the fact that it just doesn't matter ?

Part of me is relieved that there will be no "September Collapse" this year. Perhaps that will cause the Mets to take a good long look at this club, and see what needs to be changed(and I, for one, am not in favor of trading Reyes.)

Health & Safety

Wouldn't it be wise for the Mets to announce that they are cleaning house in the training department ?

i mean, this team is like a M*A*S*H unit, fer pete's sake.

I think they need to bring a new training staff. And maybe investigate the current one.

Manager....

Okay, so even the most optimistic of Mets fans must be pretty sure that this season is now a washout, and there are many reasons for that, injuries certainly not being the least of it.

I will preface these comments by saying that I live in Florida, so I do not get to watch the Mets all that often, but I was reading the recap of last night's game on Metsblog, and this sentence stood out for me...

"In the second, with the score just 3–0, and two outs, and runners on the corners, Anderson Hernandez picked up a ground ball, looked to flip to second for an inning-ending force out, by Luis Castillo was standing flat footed, in the hole between first and second, no place near the bag, positioned for the pull-hitting Garret Anderson – so, Hernandez double clutched, threw to first, but it was too late, the runner was safe, a run scored and the inning continued… and continued… and continued…"- Written by Matthew Cerrone.

Now, it seems to me that I have read(and seen) far too much of this from the Mets this season. Just basic lack of fundamental baseball, and while that is obviously the player's fault, I also pretty squarely place blame on the manager. isn't he the one who is supposed to get these guys ready to play ? This stuff is just unacceptable. And it's not like they are all young guys finding their way in the game.

More and more, I think this team needs another manager. Someone who is going to make them focus. is that Valentine ? maybe. I don't know....But I don't think it's Manuel.

"Well, At Least They Didn't Get Swept..."

But K-Rod gives up a walk off grand slam ? Really ?

And they drop 2 out of 3 to the Padres ?

Again, at least we won't have the pain of the September collapse this year.

I'll tell you what...This season now cannot end soon enough.

Big loss last night. Bullpen implosion...Oh well.

Big win today 9 -0 vs the Cards. AND big loss today, Niese went down with a hamstring injury.
At some point, don't the Mets need to fire the medical staff and start over ?

Well, I guess the positive thing is that this series against the D-Backs(If I were them, by the way, i would ask ESPN and everyone else to stop referring to them as the D-Backs- a little too close to D-Bags for me) has removed that delusional vision I had of a Mets postseason. i think what we can hope for now is a decent finish to the season when the triage unit returns to the field. En don a high note, even if it still means out of the playoffs, but finish strong for the first time in a long while. Maybe give them something to build on.
